Slow Down is a song by American recording artist and actress Selena Gomez from her solo debut studio album, Stars Dance (2013). Gomez premiered the song on June 3, 2013. Slow Down was made available as an instant digital download with the pre-order of Stars Dance on iTunes. The song was sent to US mainstream radio as the second single from Stars Dance on August 13, 2013.

After spending the majority of the year working on film projects, Selena began recording for the album in October 2012. She later confirmed the new album during an interview on Radio Disney that same month. Ryan Seacrest later reported that Gomez was working on her band's fourth studio album, though Gomez later revealed that she was working on her solo debut. In March 2013, Gomez confirmed that the album's lead single would be released the following month, and that the album would follow that summer. On April 15, 2013 Gomez confirmed that she would be embarking on her first world tour, known as the Stars Dance Tour. Gomez officially confirmed on June 3 that the album would be titled Stars Dance, and also revealed the album's track listing and cover art.

Slow Down was written by Lindy Robbins, Julia Michaels, Niles Hollowell-Dhar, David Kuncio and Freddy Wexler and was produced by both Hollowell-Dhar under the production team pseudonym The Cataracs, and Dave Kuncio. The song is dance-pop and EDM track and it features various dubstep influences, beside a dance rhythm while the song's lyrics speak of taking a relationship slowly rather than rushing into things. It is written in the key of C# minor.

Music videoEdit

A music video for Slow Down was filmed in Paris, France with some dancers. The music video leaked online on July 19, 2013. The official video was later uploaded to YouTube on the same day. It features Gomez sitting in the back seat of a 1964 Pullman 600 Mercedes-Benz. The car scenes are combined with her dancing in a club dressed in a two piece outfit with backup dancers in front of pulsating neon lights.
